Il n’avait pas les moyens de se payer l’hôtel et envisageait de passer les nuits dans la Trabant familiale. Il eu donc l’idée de construire une tente sur le toit. Le prototype fut réalisé en 14 jours, il pesait 40kg et fut testé avec succès dans la foulée. Breveté, le modèle fut construit en petite série. Dans les années 80, les heureux «tentlers» se donnaient rendez-vous le temps d’un week-end dans la nature pour partager des bières, barbecues et souvenirs de vacances…

Tee shirt with an original print. Gerhard Müller, East German citizen wanted to take his family on holiday to Bulgaria in 1975. He could not afford a hotel and planned to spend the nights in the family Trabant. So he had the idea of building a tent on the roof. The prototype was built in 14 days, weighed 40kg and was successfully tested in the process. The model was patented and built in small series. In the 80’s, the happy “tenters” would meet for a weekend in the countryside to share beers, barbecues and holiday memories…
