#coletteforever

1997-2017. The Colette boutique closed its doors for good on December 20. Thank you Sarah for distributing Bask in the sun every season since our first collection. Thank you for showing that it's not a project's notoriety that makes it worthwhile. Thank you for your curiosity and open-mindedness. Thank you for the gift you've just given us by entrusting us with the creation of the final window displays in the rue Saint Honoré boutique, as a nod to the No Stress print in our FW17 collection.

Colette is over, but it will remain the most influential Parisian boutique of the last twenty years, for tourists from all over the world who made it a must-see... But also for many Parisians, such as journalist Tonie Behar, who published this thank-you note on the day of the closure:

"That's it. Colette is closed. My very own shop around the corner. Colette arrived at the end of my street twenty years ago, and the whole neighborhood changed. At Colette, it was a permanent happening: the windows, the international stars who caused monster queues, the latest sneakers, the new designers, the music, the gadgets, the surprise bags, the Water Bar, the garage door... everything was designed to surprise, inspire, make you dream.

Today, Colette received a standing ovation from regulars who had flocked to the store to bid her farewell and buy one last relic of a time that was disappearing before their very eyes: the Colette years.

As night fell, I went downstairs to photograph the last of the window displays. They had changed again, but they were still perfect. Colette was great." #coletteforever
