James Coffman, guest artist
Mistica de la pintura
A former professional sportsman turned graphic designer, typographer, artist and teacher, James Coffman knows how to do almost everything... We're delighted to be working with him on an original capsule collection.
Now living in Portland, Oregon, James Coffman was a baseball player for the first 24 years of his life. He played for the high school team and then for the Diamondbacks for three years. "After I finished, I didn't really know what to do, but I've always had an artistic sensibility; my mother's family are all artists," he told Playbook . At the end of his contract, he enrolled in a design school without really knowing what it was. He proved to be gifted, particularly in typography design, which would become his specialty.
Inspired by the modern art of the first part of the 20th century, his drawing is very organic, his strokes very rounded and his figurative forms are simplified to the extreme.
James Coffman also enjoys working with clay. His pottery is like the rest of his work: simply harmonious!
We're delighted to be working with him to develop a capsule collection of some fifteen pieces: a workwear-inspired jacket, a shirt with an exclusive pattern, minimalist and colorful t-shirts and sweatshirts.
