James Coffman, artiste invité
Mistica de la pintura
(english version below)
A former professional sportsman turned graphic designer, typographer, artist and teacher, James Coffman knows how to do almost everything… We’re delighted to be working with him on an original capsule collection.
Now based in Portland in the United States, James Coffman was a baseball player for the first 24 years of his life. First with the high school team, then with the Diamondbacks pro team for three years. “After I finished, I didn’t really know what to do, but I’ve always had an artistic sensibility, my mother’s family are all artists”, he tells the Playbook website. At the end of his contract, he enrolled at a design school without really knowing what it was all about. He proved to be gifted, particularly in typographic design, which was to become his speciality.
Inspired by the modern art of the first part of the twentieth century, his design is very organic, his strokes very rounded and his figurative forms are simplified to the extreme.
James Coffman also enjoys working with clay. His pottery is a reflection of the rest of his work: simply harmonious!
We’re delighted to be working with him to develop a capsule collection of around fifteen pieces: a workwear-inspired jacket, a shirt with an exclusive pattern, minimalist and colourful t-shirts and sweatshirts.
